Thanks Bob, by pure luck we are heading to Alaska on Friday morning, a couple of days before Irma arrives.

I may have to 'head for the hills' myself.  This one looks really bad.

Thank you, Bob.

Hurricane "Irma" is the most powerful tropical storm in the Caribbean region ever and has caused massive damages and atm 10 victims (rising :( ).
I heard on the radio this morning that it had a speed of over 300 kilometers an hour (over 186 mph) and destroys almost everything.

Living in an area where such Hurricanes don`t exist it is really hard to imagine.
Especially that you have to leave your home to survive and you won`t know if your home will still exist when you get back.

All the best! Take care guys!
And if you have time after your family and pets are save and you have grabbed the important things take a copy of GPL and build files with you. ;)

You know, I checked a satellite weather service at work today and saw "Irma" past Barbuda, zoomed out and
saw another one, similar sized storm bringing up the rear. W T F? Maybe this planet is trying to tell us something.

Stefan, it hit 300kph over open water, over shallow water / dry land it might pick up even more speed. Not that
that matters much with those forces already.

All the best guys.

Good luck Greg and hope you stay safe with this monster coming.  We went through two Cat 3s about 10 years ago in Pensacola but nothing like this one.

It may be too late to evacuate now with the gas shortages, but the farther from the coast the better.

Thank you for the good wishes, guys.  Feeling very anxious by myself this year.  My ex has her parents staying with her as they await an apartment to become available.  So, in a small house, it would be too crowded.

Yeah, if I was gonna travel north and then west ... the time has past.  Heavy, heavy traffic (Google maps live traffic) and the possibility of not finding gasoline for fill-ups along the way ... makes that a bust.  So, I will move valuables (and myself) to an interior bathroom.

I'm in Alaska on a long planned vacation but where I live is now in the direct path and an evacuation has been ordered!  Dont get back till Sunday 17th and if the area is devastated then maybe not for some time after.

The Hurricane Irma has passed my location.  We were fortunate.  There is no serious damage in my town - no deaths or injuries, also.  From the news this morning there has been 1 death from a car crash in Florida on the west side of the state.  Unfortunately, there is massive flooding in some areas.

My thoughts go out to all of those who have endured and to those still in the path of this storm.

Thank you guys for your good wishes.  Time to brew some coffee.  :)

I stayed in my apartment (flat) and did not have any wind or water damage ... other than a slightly damp carpet under one bedroom window.

We have electrical power and good drinking water .... we have been spared and blessed !!!

Over the past couple of days I have checked on all of my friends and neighbors to see how they made out.  All are okay.  Unfortunately an elderly friend fell down in the shower .... but well after the storm.  I think that he was just really tired from the stress.  Posted Image

Thank you for your kind words and concern.

Good to hear.

We are so lucky in the UK that our weather is normally mild compared to other locations. Even our storm of 87 I slept through.
