Is it possible to create type 5 .srb files using Winmip?

I have some files with alpha masks that I have been trying to create .srb files from using Winmip, I can create .mip files without any issues with them.

However if I try and create a .srb file I get an sub images error that appears before the .srb file is saved. However when you open it it is just a plain black image.

Yes, you need to make the texture in 24 bits file.bmp and the mask file in black and white shades also in 24 bits file_ti.bmp
Then load in winmip and winmip will automatically make a proper mip or srb reducing the file in 16bits format, 12 for the texture and 4 for the mask.

Also if you just modify a texture but want to keep the mask of an existing mip or srb, save also  this in 24 bits format even if you don't change it, before to load it in winmip.

Done these tracks and working on others.

I believe the problem was that I was saving the _ti.bmp as a 4bit image, I just tested following your instructions and had no problems. :thanks:
