hm, i've been having a weird thing happening recently.
frnacesco and i've been pm'ing a bit about cars and editing etc. and there seem to be random attachments showing up in our posts. attachments we didn't put there. it seems like a bit of a corrupt database or something. for instance in one recent conversation i have found some 3d renderings, blueprints and something else of a car neither of us involved in doing.
now in the latest pm-thread i now see a 3dworkshop.zip attached to the first post that wasn't there in the original post, and there's no note saying he edited the post. the zip downloads and unzips fine and it contains what i believe to be a skin-template for a jag mk2 (gtl? power and glory?). i don't know if that file is available elsewhere in this or any of the other bcsim forums (as said, most likely the p&g forum), but it struck me as odd.

it's not a life and death issue, just something.. interesting :D

Checking my pm's now...not that i have a problem with it, i just love forbidden fruits  :P

Bugger! Nothing, De Nada, Ziltsch, Niks, Ne Rien.....not even a playboy bunny.
Now that is really dissappointing Keith  :frown:

Seriously though: i've made a new thread and are trying to add pictures in single posts. The strange thing is whatever i add in a new post gets merged in the 1st post

Ok, if i wait a while i'm able to add another post but i can't recall if i had these problems before?

well a playboy bunny, now that would be something. although, preferably one from the past, not these airbrushed and upholstered ones :)

i'm thinking what you are experiencing could be the double post protection thing. i know some forums have that. so when you are posting inside say 4 hours of your last post - and yours is actually the last, then they get merged. not sure if that is the case, but it sure sounds like it

and keith, thanks for looking into it. others might have the same issue, but so far i've only experienced it in conversation between us two.

This is strange as no one seems to be working on the Austin 30/35 or Morris Minor.

Yeah, there is a time delay before a new post is created. They are merged for convenience for a short period of time. (Standard setting on this new software we thought was OK?)

No problem, i just wasn't aware of this feature until i tried to create a thread with sub posts per driver  :) What's the timeframe?

Cheers,

Hmmmmm. Just experienced some of this PM weirdness myself.

Just made a reply to someone via pm, and 2 mysterious files have been attached to the end of my post.

coventry_031209.7z (549.19K) - 2 downloads, and  brm_031209.7z (410.08K) - 3 downloads.

Strange indeed.

thank god, it's not just me. i am sane, wohooo, proof! ;)
i'm happy to report though that this phenomenon has let off a bit. it's not happening as often (to me anyway) as it used to. i think i had it in conversations with ginetto, royale, hatzi, francesco and i think keith.

Nah, it`s not just you (the attachments anyway, the sanity bit might still be a problem)  :P

First time it`s happened here tho, so I`m not entirely sure what to make of it.

Yes, I have seen similar here too, and also over at SRMZ. It is not a problem particularly, although in some cases if passing around beta test files then there are maybe some slight issues I guess.

The same was found in the e-mail from me to Ginetto some months ago.

Keeps on happening here too, with everybody PM there is always at least one attachment coming from nowhere; last one was a list of nascar 2003 files !?!

Done these tracks and working on others.

Yes, I have had the same at SRMZ although the good thing is that the files seem to be random ones from the site and don't seem to be malicious, I checked one with my anti virus and then opened it without a problem.

Yes, I think the files themselves are genuine and normal uploads, just that they are intended for other people. :)

yup sure are. i've just got another one of those, this one from the f2 mod me thinks:

    * Attached File  Blue_MS5_dash_bmps.7z (431.86K)
      Number of downloads: 2

that should sound familiar to some. i wonder what would happen if i, or someone else would delete this file (from the attachments) - would it be gone for me (in case the original poster deleted it) or for him (if i deleted it)?

I think I had that same file attached to one of my PMs by mistake as well quite recently. I just deleted it from my PM, but I don't think that affects the file itself elsewhere, just this link to it.

Who`s been getting the Capri 13 inch wheels in their PM inbox recently then?

I got pm`d them just last week, downloaded them once, and the download count is up to 10 so far.

Seems the problem isn`t just limited to old files

That is my worry, people that post private files and they arrive to X other people who aren't supposed to.  Posted Image

This was a known error affecting IE users.
It was supposed to have been fixed in this release.
Looking at options on weather to try to fix or upgrade to the latest version.
Will know more soon.

well well, i've been using the fox all through this ;). so far nothing untoward has happened, i guess, and we're all grown ups :)...
eh with nothing untoward i meant anybody leaking stuff. although i had a bit of a worry with someone, who isn't part of the team, wanting to improve his spa67 time :S

other than that i do get my fair share of pm attachment weirdness using ff, ie and safari on my mbp. so i'd say it's browser independant.

one other tidbit of info - this has never happened at the srmz to me, only at the repo! might help narrowing the issue down, dunno. thanks for looking into it anyway

Well if it happens in IE then most likely it will happen them all to some degree.
Lets see what can be done about fixing it. Posted Image
