JFYI.....This file has been moved from GPLMZ.
These backgrounds are all 256x256, and NOT the 512x512 backgrounds that have been recently upload.

Easy Backgrounds

Background changer for GPL

Sky background authors.....
These skies were taken from several installed tracks.
I know that Al Healy's sky backgrounds are in here, and Simon Stoddard's.

They deserve full credit for making the beautiful sky textures.
With all the different addons for GPL now, it's become very hectic to know who made what.
If I have missed any sky texture authors, my sincere apologies.

Alright. Here we go.

Unzip this file to a directory.
You will notice that it creates a folder called "Easy Backgrounds"
The sub folders are.....
Background Main, Grounds, and 10 sky folders, sky1 thru sky10.

In the directory "Background Main", you will see a .PSD file called "SS Easy Backgrounds"
Double click on that, and you will open a layered format of 10 skies, add the subsequent downloaded panoramas to this folder.

Click on a sky background to choose sky/clouds that you want. (REMEMBER THE SKY NUMBER YOU CHOOSE!) And then just click on any of the background panoramas that you wish to insert.
Since it's in a layered format, you can move various panoramas forward or back, hide some, while making others visible.
Once you're satisfied with your choice, save the file out as a .BMP.
You will have a .BMP file that is 3072 x 256.
Now just chop that file into 256 pixel chunks, and save them as horiz0 thru horiz11.
Once they're into 256 x 256 chunks, winmip them.
Now, remember the sky number you used? Go to the folder that matches the sky you chose, and use that horizon.3do and sky.mip.

Grounds folder. I've included several different ground mips. Since you're changing the backgrounds, you'll want to try and match the ground to your new background.

With this as a layered type file, you can always add another panorama, if you should find one.

Have Fun!

A.K.A. Scottie

I think the above URL is wrong - should not be http://gplmz.bcsims...._Backgrouns.zip but http://gplmz.bcsims....Backgrounds.zip

hi, Scott, I only have a doubt: some horizons here seem to be good to use on my actual project (just a track for practice) but the detail is that my track in place of grass it has snow, then I would need to make some changes on original files, "putting" a snow effect on the mountains. Is it ok if I do it putting on the final credits something like "Horizon bitmap based on original work of Scott"?

Does anybody has the 512x512 version of Easy Background? (the first one)
I had DL it form SRMZ back in 2004 but then I replaced with this 256x256 version without even realizing that the 512x512 was going to disappear.
Now I was thinking that one of you must still have it. :)

Done these tracks and working on others.
