Looking for texture help!

Currently, I am working on three tracks for GPL release.  One of them has been in the works for a few years - mostly due to lack of texture help and expertise.

1) Thunderhill Raceway East - 3-mile track, formerly Thunderhill Long, but they added a WEST raceway to combine the two into a possible 5-mile track.
  • GTK is complete
  • Most TSOs are complete
The track is basically ready for release - just I am a perfectionist and I am not happy with my texturing capabilities.  Of course being a perfectionist, I am still messing with a bypass section of the track at Turn 5... but I could release the track with the current version, it just wont be as pretty.

I need help texturing, perhaps mapping advice to help textures look better.

2) Pau Arnos.  A 3KM club track Northwest of Pau, France.  Lots of elevation and great character
  • The GTK is almost done, just adding elevation
  • No textures or TSOs are done at all.
3) Nelson Ledges - a nearly 2 mile road course in Northeast Ohio, near Warren... not far from Cleveland
  • GTK is almost done for this one too.
  • Not started elevations, but it is mostly flat
  • No textures
  • No TSOs, but there aren't many to begin with.
Den Hill has been helping me, but he is time restricted.

Anyone interested in getting in on helping me with these projects?  Anyone have a flow chart for track making with teams? (I've done the tracks in the past as solo endeavors.

I am trying some (as far as I know) untried methods with Thunderhill at least, and plan to do more of the same with Pau Arnos.


SRB textures

Ok, So I know this is going to sound strange to those of you who know me, but I haven't a clue how SRBs work.

As much as they are an integral part of the GPL experience, I've never messed with them and don't know how to manipulate them to do what I want.

I know that things like the flagman is an SRB, but that's about it.  

How do you make the waving flagman?

How do people make the 'waving' flags on a pole?

How do you make the image face the viewer always?

If someone has a user guide to SRBs, that would be great!  If not, then maybe this thread will help not only me, but others like me!

Anyone ever see this?  Trying to edit polygon textures and when I click the polygon in the list under the texture window, that is the error i get...

dunno what I've done to have such a problem
